Synopsis
How Refondation Sociale, the French application of global liberalism, is destroying the dream of a democratic and cultural society … Culture, education, research and health, common goods enshrined in the Constitution after the war, are now under attack in the name of profitability. Numerous citizens’ movements are united in their opposition to this dismantling of our democratic foundations, which is taking place in France under the impetus of MEDEF and the liberal right, and throughout the world, in accordance with new WTO directives… How can we react today to the commodification of the Republic, in an economic Europe that is far removed from citizens in need of social rights? Through a year of debates and actions, they aim to raise collective awareness of the very foundations of our society that once gave birth to human rights. The aim of this film is to help us understand this turning point in society, based on the voices raised in the struggle, and to explore the alternatives made possible by the social movement. In the midst of a period of disinterest in public affairs, he probes the possibilities of a new citizenship capable of freeing society from the double oppression of the carrot (consumption) and the stick (repression).
