Synopsis

Soisy-sur-École is a small Essonne village with a population of 2,000. That’s where I met Brahim, the only Arab in the village. The only one, until Mustapha came to buy the grocery shop. It was in this small shop that the two men first met, thousands of miles from their native Morocco. Mustapha is determined to help Brahim get back on his feet. After 22 years in exile, Brahim has become homeless. A drunk living in the woods. Mustapha is going to give him the chance to stop living like an illegal immigrant, to return to a Moroccan family that has been forgotten for 22 years, and above all to find a job by giving him the job of running his grocery shop. In just a few years, Brahim would become the most beloved and indispensable figure in the life of this small village in the Île-de-France region. And then, last year, on his return from Morocco, Brahim did not survive the consequences of his dark years. Today, in Soisy, Mustapha has to learn to carry on without the man he loved more than a brother, to continue ‘life without Brahim’.
