Synopsis
Portraits of five young Swedish people with motor disabilities who loudly proclaim their “abnormality” and their right to happiness. Jonas Franksson, Joel Granström, Mustafa Ahmed Jama, Helena Svensson and Veronica Svensk, aged between 19 and 25, have been elected to the Board of Directors of the Swedish Association of Young People with Motor Disabilities. Although some are severely disabled, these five young people are bursting with energy: they proclaim loud and clear (and with humour) their right to happiness, their contempt for charity and paternalism, and their desire for a society designed for everyone. Defying the canons of normality – they demand above all respect for their ‘abnormality’ – they fight against discrimination and social exclusion, asking to be considered not just as patients, but as citizens in their own right…
